WHAT IS EXPECTED OF ME AS A COACH?

  1. BE COMMITTED! Please be prepared to attend all practices and games to the best of your ability.  We understand things happen that may prevent you from making a practice or game, but please make every effort to attend all of them.
  2. Make sure we have the correct contact information for the person volunteering to coach.
  3. The coach or assistant coach will need to attend the draft in order to pick your practice time and draft your team.
  4. BE IN CONSTANT COMMUNICATION WITH YOUR AGE COORDINATOR AND THE WHYS BOARD. We do our best to communicate any and all important information and changes to our coaches, but we need you all to be checking emails and texts.  Any questions should go to the age coordinator first.
  5.  ONLY THE COACH OR ASSISTANT COACH IS ALLOWED TO RUN PRACTICES AND GAMES.  If you or the assistant is unable to be there for a practice or game, let your age coordinator know.  We will find someone to fill in for you.  No one can fill in for a coach without Board approval.
  6. All coaches are required to complete a background check, safe sport training, and concussion training.  Links will be emailed to you.  We will need a picture or printed copy of the completed concussion certificate.  You will not be allowed to run practices or games without completion of both.
  7. Coaches are responsible for picking up uniforms and distributing them to their team.
  8. We will give out game schedules as soon as we have them finalized.   Any game/practice that needs to be rescheduled due to weather or any other cancellation reasons, must be done by the WHYS Board.
  9. We highly suggest arriving 15-30 minutes early for games.  It shows your commitment and dedication to the players and parents when they see you there first.
